On Thursday, the 23rd, the Federal Revenue Service (RF) announced that by 13 pm a total of 30.057.783 Income Tax (IR) 2024 declarations had been submitted by taxpayers. The final deadline for submission is May 31st. The Revenue Service's goal is to receive around 43 million declarations by the end of the deadline.
“A tip to reduce the risk of errors is to use the pre-filled declaration. Even so, all information must be checked and validated by the taxpayer before sending the declaration to the Federal Revenue Service”, says the advisory.
According to the IRS, after the May 31 deadline, taxpayers who file their tax return will have to pay a fine. “The deadline for filing the 2024 Income Tax return ends on May 31. A fine will be charged to anyone who is required to file the return and does not do so by the deadline. The fine charged is 1% per month on the amount of Income Tax due, capped at 20% of the Income Tax amount. The minimum fine is R$165,74,” it adds.
