The signing of the Agreement between the City of Paranaguá and Cattalini Terminais Marítimos marked the consolidation of the project to build classrooms on Teixeira Island, located in Paranaguá Bay. The signing took place on Tuesday night (5), at the headquarters of the Commercial, Industrial and Agricultural Association of Paranaguá (ACIAP).

“This important performance by Cattalini is the result of a commitment by the company to Professor Selma Camargo Meira, when she was Head of the Regional Education Center. Congratulations to everyone who contributed to this project,” commented Eloir Martins, president of ACIAP.
On behalf of teacher Selma Camargo Meira, her daughter, Luciane Chiarelli, expressed her gratitude for the recognition of the work done in the name of education on the coast. “My mother always fought for education and access to quality education. When she asked for support from companies, she thought of each of the students who would benefit. Today, more than new classrooms, students on Ilha do Teixeira will have greater dignity in studying and having a profession. She certainly receives this news with great happiness,” she emphasized.
According to Antônio Régis, representative of the Regional Education Center, the improvements on the Island will provide greater safety and comfort for students. Currently, students between the ages of 11 and 14 study in the state school system in the area, but use a borrowed classroom belonging to the municipality. “Due to this situation, students need to extend their class hours to the evening, which causes problems in terms of safety and transportation,” he commented.

With the new structure, it will be possible to offer Youth and Adult Education (EJA), preventing students from having to travel to Paranaguá to complete high school. “I am very happy, because this partnership with the private sector is a reflection of a transparent administration. I thank the company for this important partnership and we encourage more companies to partner with the city,” said the mayor of Paranaguá, Marcelo Roque.
The investment applied to the construction of the school will be around R$100 thousand and represents another of the company's actions within its Social and Environmental Responsibility Program.
“This is a very special moment that brings together the four parties involved in this initiative: the Regional Education Center, the City of Paranaguá, the Residents' Association of Ilha do Teixeira and the company Cattalini. We seek to support initiatives in the surrounding area that benefit the community in the areas of education, culture, sports and well-being,” highlighted the company's CEO, José Paulo Fernandes.
