Professionals at state schools will be able to receive a financial bonus if the units where they work perform well in the Basic Education Development Index (Ideb) from 2024 onwards. The measure is included in state law 21.847/2023, sanctioned by governor Carlos Massa Ratinho Júnior, on Thursday, the 14th.

The bonus will be granted to all school professionals who reach or exceed the Ideb target set by the State Department of Education (Seed), including teachers, pedagogues, lunch ladies and permanent and temporary administrative professionals, and will also be proportional to the working hours.

The amount will be set at 70% of the salary for Level 1, Class 1, of the Teaching Staff Career – QPM (approximately R$3) and will be paid after the National Institute of Studies and Educational Research Anísio Teixeira (INEP), of the Ministry of Education, releases the new evaluation result.

Professionals from educational institutions that experience a decline in the growth rate or a result below 50% of the target established for that school will not be entitled to the so-called Learning Result Bonus.

CONTENTS

The Ideb is calculated and published every two years, in even-numbered years, but with data from the previous year. The indicator is based on school approval rates and student averages in Portuguese and mathematics. One of the objectives of the index is to assess the quality of learning and establish goals to improve public education.
