The City of Paranaguá signed the service order for the construction of a Municipal Early Childhood Education Center (Cmei) in the Jardim Guaraituba neighborhood. The ceremony was held on Monday morning, the 30th, with the presence of authorities, municipal secretaries, civil servants and the local population.
The investment, aimed at serving children in the community, is over R$2 million, with the project expected to be completed in 12 months. The new Cmei is located at Rua Xingu, no. 605, where Vaca Mecânica, a soy milk factory for underprivileged children in the municipality, used to operate.
The mayor of Paranaguá, Marcelo Roque, emphasized that with the signing of the service order and the start of the construction work, it will soon be possible to offer more places for children in the region. “We now have the opportunity to not only provide the same function, but also another very important function for the area, which is to provide a future for our children. We are delivering this service order with an investment of over R$2 million and it will certainly provide quality places for the residents who live around Jardim Guaraituba, in the neighborhoods of Santos Dumont, Asa Branca, Itiberê, and São Vicente. We will also build another Cmei in the downtown area so that people who work downtown can leave their children and work with peace of mind,” stated the mayor.

The municipal secretary of Education and Comprehensive Education, Tenile Xavier, explained that the region has a demand for places in early childhood education. “Considering that we have the Aurora Cmei nearby, which serves children from 0 to 4 years old, and the Nascimento Júnior School, which serves children from Pre-II to 5th grade. This new Cmei will have six classrooms, in addition to multipurpose rooms, bathrooms, storage rooms and other requirements for installing Cmeis, as well as all the rooms with solariums,” said Tenile.

The new Cmei will have the capacity to serve an average of 150 children. “For the Department of Education, this is a very important project, after all, in recent years we have delivered and expanded Cmeis in every corner of Paranaguá to be able to serve our little ones. The schools still have a waiting list and the intention is to build a high-quality building, with safety and in accordance with the age group to be served”, stated Tenile.
Other works in the field of education
According to the secretary, the idea is to deliver the building by January of next year so that the school can receive children in the 2024 school year. The city government also has other works underway, such as the Nossa Senhora de Guadalupe Cmei, in Vila Santa Maria, which is undergoing general renovation and should be delivered by May of this year. The Tiradentes Municipal School, in Alexandra, is also under construction and will have two floors with accessibility for students. In addition to specific maintenance in some institutions.
